School Bus
Children who ride on a diesel school bus may be exposed to up to 4 times more toxic diesel exhaust than someone traveling in a car. A study found that diesel exhaust levels on school busses were 23-46 times higher than levels considered to be unsafe and a significant cancer risk according to the U.S EPA and federal guidelines. Exposure to untreated diesel exhaust can also be a factor in childhood asthma and lung disease.
Fortunately, the harmful components of diesel exhaust; particulate matter (PM), carbon monoxide (CO), and hydrocarbons (HC), are easily reduced with current and readily available technologies which provide immediate emissions reductions and hence immediate health benefits to the local population.

Purifilter Plus™ – Diesel Particulate Filter NOW VERIFIED!
Purifilter Plus™ is the first verified hybrid diesel particulate filter which combines the benefits of the passive Purifilter™ with the active regeneration of the ECS Combifilter™.
This “hybrid” approach maintains passive operation of the Purifilter as well as greatly reduces the infrastructure requirements and plug-in frequency of a purely electrically regenerated, active diesel particulate filter.
Electrical Regeneration when the vehicle is out of service eliminates the safety concerns of fully active systems which inject and combust diesel fuel into the exhaust system of the school bus during operation.

Purifilter – Diesel Particulate Filter
Purifilter™
The Purifilter™ is a passively regenerating diesel particulate filter and was the first verified product to offer >90% particulate removal as well as compliance with EPA and ARB NO2 limits. Exhaust enters the filter where the particulate is "trapped". When appropriate temperatures are reached the particulate is "burned" off in a continuous fashion. The Purifilter™ replaces the current muffler affording superior noise attenuation that is comparable to higher quality mufflers.

AZ Purifier and AZ Purimuffler – Diesel Oxidation Catalyst
AZ Purifiers and Purimufflers have the greatest number of EPA and ARB verifications with particulate emissions credit values ranging from 20% to 40% depending upon the engine. No other diesel oxidation catalyst performs better!
The AZ Purifier is an oxidation catalyst that is contained in a separate converter that is installed upstream of the vehicles original muffler. Alternatively, the AZ Purimuffler incorporates the catalyst into a direct fit muffler which replaces the original vehicle muffler. Exhaust enters the catalyst and the harmful exhaust is chemically and physically modified into harmless air. AZ Purimufflers can be designed to be a direct fit replacement for the manufacturers’ original muffler. This means less down time and less invasive installation. AZ Purimufflers are a quick and efficient way to effectively reduce harmful diesel emissions.
CCV 60 Pump ™
Closed Crankcase Ventilation (CCV)
ECS also offers a closed crankcase ventilation system which when combined with our AZ Purifier or Purimuffler is verified by the US EPA to reduce particulate matter by an industry leading 40% across a wide array of 1991 and newer HD diesel engines (link).
The ECS CCV is also the only CCV that features a filter change indicator that advises service technician when the filter cartridge needs replacing.
Unlike some competitive products, the CCV’s offered by ECS are truly closed systems that insure 100% elimination of crankcase emissions thus eliminating them from entering the passenger compartment.
The ECS CCV system can be combined with any of our products above** which will eliminate 100% of engine crankcase gases which studies have found penetrate the school bus cabin greatly impacting cabin air quality.
