California Air Resources Board Verifies ECS Purifilter Plus
Engine Control Systems, a Catalytic Solutions Company, is pleased to announce that the California Air Resources Board has verified the ECS Purifilter Plus™ as a Level 3+ device for use with selected 1993-2006 non-EGR on-road diesel engines. Approved engines are certified to a particulate matter emission level equal to or less than 0.1 grams per brake horsepower-hour.
The Purifilter Plus™ is the first verified hybrid diesel particulate filter which combines the passive ECS Purifilter™ with the active regeneration components of the ECS Combifilter™. The result is a hybrid diesel particulate filter which has no duty cycle requirement and can be maintained by periodic active regeneration by simply plugging in the system to a 240V, single-phase or 480V three-phase regeneration control panel which is shared between many vehicles. This approach greatly reduces the infrastructure requirements of an electrically regenerated, active diesel particulate filter and maintains passive operation and low backpressure over an extended period of time.
Purifilter Plus™ is ideal for a wide variety of small and large fleet operators such as school buses, shuttle buses, urban buses, municipal vehicles, utility vehicles, refuse trucks and urban delivery vehicles. Users can choose to employ a pro-active scheduled plug-in interval determined for their specific application or can choose to reactively plug-in the vehicle upon illumination of an indicator light. Purifilter Plus™ is applicable to vehicles with variable or cold duty cycle operation as well as high demand vehicles where users want to ensure vehicle up-time and minimize the labor related to removing a passive DPF which exhibits high exhaust restriction.
